Evaluation

My Magazines Pitch

Magazine Pitch

un magazine is newly created to inform readers of all the latest happenings in and around Hip-Hop. The magazine is intended to keep readers up-to-date with any news which may pop up regarding the Hip-Hop genre, and also introduce any new artists which may be entering the scene.

unCUT and unIQUE are the two most important factors of the magazine, as can be seen in the magazines logo. The unCUT part of the magazine basically means that there is no twists to any of the storys which are being published in the magazine - everything is original and the latest news. unIQUE means that the magazine finds out its own information from its own sources, which provided readers with only the most original and exciting stories.

Logo and Colour Scheme

The above image shows the colour schemes I considered before making my logo, and then part of my logo creation process. Out of the colour schemes on show, I believed that the one I chose (black, white and red) portrayed my particular magazine's genre better than the rest. This colour scheme, compared to for example the blue, purple and light purple is a lot more suited to a hip-hop genre I believe, as it is a lot darker.

For my logo I used a clear font which would allow users to read the logo name, which is an incorporation of uncut and unique, which I believe are two words which would appeal to an audience of people who are looking to read a magazine.

FINISHH - Kerrang Magazine Contents Page and Double Page Spread Analysis

The above image is of two Kerrang contents pages. At first glance, there is a clear sense of consistency, especially so with the colour scheme and layout of the page. The black, yellow and white colour scheme is present throughout both pages, which mainly stands out in the 'Contents' title. Just underneith the contents title there is quotes on each content page, with the persons name in bold and how they are known, which draws attention to the reader. An example of this is on the left hand the bold text has 'Metallica' in, which a fan of rock would be drawn to since they are arguably one of the biggest bands ever.

In the top left hand corner there is an image of the front cover of the magazine, and a small paragraph of text summing up the particular magazine issue. On both magazines there is several images of different bands or members of bands which will catch readers eyes if they see a particular famous person that they enjoy reading about/listening to their music. On these images, there is page numbers which informs the reader of which page they have to go to in order to read more about the story.

The common part of the contents page which simply has the headings of the articles and then page numbers is also present in a consistent manner on both of the contents pages, at the right of the page. The title 'This Week' is used at the top of the section and then several eye-catching sub-headings are used to draw attention from readers, including words such as 'icons' 'features' 'live reviews' and 'famous last words'. These sub-headings will catch a readers eye and make them want to read more about the particular subject.
